The Bell

The bell is the most important sound body of the mellophone. Depending on the shape and material of the bell, the timbre of the instrument can be altered. Nickel silver produces a bright sound, while gold brass produces a soft, dark sound. The heavier the bell, the darker and warmer the tone.
